Coregistration Leads - Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is a coregistration lead?
Co-registration occurs when someone registers for one thing (for instance, a membership, or a magazine subscription) and then is
offered more information on a related topic (such as making money from home). In another case, they might be visiting a website
targeted to entrepreneurs, and a popup asks if they would like related free information by email. It can also be done using a
directory or a generic splash page that informs them they will hear about multiple business opportunities if they provide their
contact information. Finally, coreg leads are sometimes generated simply by informing a registrant that the information they are
submitting may be sold to purveyors of related information.
Why are coregistration leads so inexpensive?
Part of the reason is that, by definition, coregistration leads are shared leads who signed up for multiple offers through
one registration. In the case of my bulk coregistration leads, I share
them again by creating co-ops of up to 3 people who will get the same leads.

Your offer sounds great. What's an autoresponder?
If you are brand new to internet marketing, or email marketing, and don't have a web site or know how to use an autoresponder, then
my product is not for you! Most of my customers are building or adding to existing newsletter lists, and the ones who do
best with coreg leads are experienced email marketers, many of whom have dedicated servers. If you want to add to an existing list,
or start a new list in a niche that is new for you, and already know what you are doing, then give coregistration leads serious
consideration as part of your overall list building strategy. Bulk coregistration leads are not for "newbies"
and even experienced email marketers have to learn how to work with them.
Are your coreg leads "opt-in" or "opt-out"?
Our bulk leads are single
opt in leads. Details are collected when the prospect actively selects our listing offering more information, and then
completes an "opportunity seeker" information request form, and freely provides their name and email address and other information
which tends to confirm their genuine interest. I use only the most reputable of coregistration services, who, to the best of my
knowledge, do not use any "opt-out" techniques, and our live coreg leads are collected from traffic generated by a high quality
media
company.
Are your coreg leads single or double opt in?
I offer only single opt in coreg leads at this time. The leads have NOT been sent a
confirmation email asking them to reaffirm their desire to receive information (which also confirms the validity of their email
address). Doing so would make them "double opt-in", which are much, much more expensive.
Why don't you offer double opt-in coregistration leads?
For the simple reason that double opt-in leads would be prohibitively expensive, and take much longer to collect in large numbers.
Using double opt-in tends to result in anywhere from 20% to as much as 70% "non-confirmation", depending on how the confirmation
email is worded, and the nature of the people it is sent to. Some people hate clicking the links, others perhaps perceive the
confirmation message itself as some sort of spam or unwanted email.
How should I contact these people, and email to such a large list?
I get a lot of questions on this, so I've prepared a page that outlines your options. You can read more about contacting your email leads here.
Can I run a custom ad? Can you deliver direct to my autoresponder?
We are working on the ability to allow customers to run custom ads, but at present we do not have that capability. As for delivery
direct to your own autoresponder, that is forbidden by most hosted autoresponder providers.
We do, however, offer a monthly autoship service that includes both a hosted autoresponder and
live coreg leads deposited to your autoresponder in real time,
moments after people fill out the form. Unlike our bulk "co-op" leads, these leads are NOT shared with other NitroListBuilder
customers, although they are still coregistration leads, meaning that people may have signed up for other offers at the same time
they selected ours.
Is this a rented list of coreg leads, or do I own it?
This is *not* a "rental". You own the list (as do up to 2 more people I may have sold them to, if you buy the bulk coreg
leads).
If you buy live co-reg leads, then you will be sharing that
lead with other people at the network level, but only *YOU* get the "business opportunity" registration. There is no such thing as
a "rented list" at NLB!
How do I know people really opted in?
To be very blunt, you don't, and neither do I. We both have to depend on the honest integrity of my suppliers. Each of the
coregistration leads on your list comes with time and date stamp and IP address, and we both have to rely upon the integrity of my
suppliers not to have altered them. Most of our bulk coreg leads have time stamps that are only 1 to 4 days old when you get them.
If I had reason to believe the leads were not legitimate, I would not sell them.
I do not collect the leads myself, however. I purchase from large coregistration lead wholesalers. I use only the most
reputable coregistration partners whom I believe are reliable and truthful in their representations to me that the leads are freshly
collected, but I have no way of proving it, and neither do the suppliers. Frankly, though, this is a point of vulnerability with
*any* purchased leads.
You also need to understand that occasionally someone can end up on a mailing list because of someone else providing their
information. Short of using double opt-in and email confirmation, there is no way to prevent that. This is one reason you have to
carefully word your first couple of emails to your new leads. There may be some people who will have forgotten that they requested
this type of information, or some whose email information was submitted by someone else, either innocently or otherwise. There are
also even a few people who go around opting in to various lists, simply so they can harass whoever emails them. Nothing can be done
to stop that, except to scan your list for obvious "trap" addresses, and using double opt-in.
Are co-reg leads offered any money or incentives to Opt In?
NO. Generally, I do not recommend that kind of lead, as they may only have been interested in the incentive, and not be true
"business opportunity seekers". Again, I have to rely on the integrity of my suppliers, but I specifically ask to be provided only
non-incentivized coreg leads.
Where do your coregistration leads lists come from?
The lists are generated via coregistration networks on a variety of partner sites, depending on the target market. Prospects see a
banner or text description of an offering for information on business opportunities, making money from home or online, or something
similarly designed to attract "opportunity seekers".
Prospects fill in a form providing their name, email address, and some additional validating information. Some coregistration
services "pre-populate" the form with the information that the prospect used while registering for the primary offer, and then show
them a group of related offers which they can opt-in for by checking the boxes next to the offers they want and clicking a "submit"
or "subscribe" or "request information" button.
By the way, pre-populating the form is not the same as using "opt-out", where the prospect will receive all offers they do not
specifically decline. By forcing the prospect to check the box the coregistration service is using "opt-in", even if the form itself
is pre-populated with the prospect's information which they submitted while registering for the primary offer. Forcing them
to check the boxes and click a button to submit their request means that they must actively take action in order to opt-in
Data is collected and processed as fast as possible to assure leads are fresh when you get them. I do not collect the
information personally, but rely on very large, commercial co-registration networks as my wholesale providers.
Are these email leads sold over and over again?
No! I create a co-op of at most 3 people who will each share a 20K or 100K list. The co-ops rarely sell out, however, so you
will most likely share the co-op leads with only 1 or no other customers. Other than paying a huge premium for exclusive primary
registrations, this is the best deal you’re going to find. These are co-registration leads, however, so you know that they have
already been sent some other kind of information by the primary registrar, and in some cases the wholesale coregistration network
may reserve the right to resell the lead several times. You need to understand, also, that people who enroll on these lists are
surfing the net for opportunities, so they most likely have signed up for more than one mailing list, which is why you need to make
your approach to them "stand out from the crowd".
In the case of our live coregistration leads, the leads are NOT
resold. The people registering in the live coregistration channel may have requested information other than for business
opportunities, but only *you* get their request for "opportunity seeker" related information.
What if another co-op customer is promoting the same opportunity?
No problem. When you order, we ask you to indicate
your website URL and the name of the program you are promoting, to ensure that you do not share leads with anyone else who is also
promoting the same program.
How deliverable are coregistration leads?
Email delivery is fraught with so many factors that I really can't tell you that. Email deliverability is affected by such things
as the time of day and day of the week that you email, whether your server is properly configured, including correct reverse DNS and
a valid SPF record, whether you have a Dedicated or Shared IP address, whether your site and/or your autoresponder provider are
"white listed" and many other factors, such as the total amount and hourly volume of email originating from your domain. And that
is just a partial list of what affects email delivery!
Inevitably, on a list this size, you will find some full email boxes, wrong email addresses, and the like, even though every
effort has been made to minimize this kind of error. Given the volume of leads that I deal in, it would be impractical to "ping"
all these addresses for validity before sending them to you. When I asked my programmers to set things up to "ping" my database
before delivery to my customers, they estimated it would take 4 days to "ping" all the addresses for just one co-op. Needless to
say, I decided against it.
Be aware also that spam filters can prevent your email from being delivered if you use words like "money back guarantee", FREE,
and $$$$. The list of "trigger words" changes and grows longer every day. Test each email before you send it to your list to make
sure it passes the current spam filters. You can use this free spam check, or other
such free services that you can find on the net.
What kind of response will I get from these people?
That depends on what you send them, and how you approach it! One critically important concept to understand is that your Return On
Investment is far more important than your percentage response. If you pay a penny a name, what will matter is how much revenue
comes from those who eventually buy, not how many people responded to your first offer or even remained on your list.
Coregistration leads are ideal for this, because you can buy a large list, and build a relationship with them over a sequence of
emails at low cost. While you may get a higher percent response from another list, the cost to acquire that list may well make that
campaign far less profitable. I would rather double or triple my money over an extended time on 1% or less of my coregistration list
than get an initial 20% response rate, but not enough revenue to cover costs.
What will my "click through" rate be with single opt-in leads?
I couldn't possibly tell you that! If you send something ridiculous to your mailing list, or hit them over the head with "hard
sell" tactics, your click-through and sales ratios will probably be virtually zero! Open rates and click-through rates are highly
dependent upon the wording of your "from" and subject lines, and whether the recipient perceives your offer as something of
value to them.
If you expect to send one email to a list of coreg leads and get tons of clicks to your site, and/or sales,
then you will be sadly disappointed.
Even experienced email marketers with a totally "warm" list of leads collected on their own site rarely get more than a 5% or 10%
click through rate on any given email, so you must expect a much, much lower response rate when mailing to a "cold" list of coreg
leads who have no idea who you are. Probably the single biggest mistake that beginning users of coreg leads make is sending only
one or two emails and giving up.
On the other hand, if you are creative with your subject lines and your offers, you might get a higher percentage clicking on the
links in some of your emails, especially after the list is "warm". You also need to keep in mind that web sites, direct mail, and
email campaigns that convert more than 1% or so are thought to be doing quite well. Your conversions will almost certainly be
better if you "warm up" your list before trying to sell anything. As you'll learn in the ebook I give you with your order, there
are many factors which affect the success of any given email campaign. If you're not succeeding, the problem usually is not the
quality of your leads, it's the quality of your strategy.
How can I get the best response from coregistration leads?
Split-test everything! You need to split-test your subject lines, the wording of your confirmation
messages, the wording of your emails themselves, what days of the week and times of day to mail, how long to "warm up" your list
before inserting sales messages, etc, etc. What works in one market may not work in another, and what works with direct opt-ins
from your website may not work with co-reg leads. For that matter, what worked last year with *any* type of lead may not work this
year. Achieving success in business and especially in email marketing is a process that must constantly evolve.
The Date Stamps on some of my coreg leads are a week old. Why?
These are co-registration leads. Sometimes, I'm able to get the co-registration nearly simultaneous with the primary
registration, and your leads are only two or three days old when you get them. Other times, all that is available is leads that are
at least X days "aged" after the primary registration. I get you the best deal that I can every time ... but in order to get the
rock-bottom pricing, sometimes I have to take what is available, or you would wait even longer for your leads.
8% of the names you sent me are already on my own list ..
Actually, that doesn't surprise me. How many lists did you sign up for when you were first starting out? "Opportunity seekers"
tend to submit multiple forms and respond to multiple offers, because they are looking for something, or maybe just curious. There
is absolutely no way for me to assure you that people have never before asked for business opportunity information, or been to your
site.
Frankly, I'd be more amazed if they hadn't. By definition, "opportunity seekers" are seeking opportunities. If you ran
your own ad, how would you know that the people filling out your form had never before asked for similar information, or had not
come to your web site several times and filled out the form each time?
While we're on the subject, I do scan and "de-duplicate" each individual co-op, but I cannot possibly compare every current list
to every list that was ever sold in the past. These leads are collected on high traffic web sites, so it is entirely possible that
someone who requested information this week has visited that website and requested information at some time in the past.
Only 1% of my co-reg leads stayed on my list. Why?
What did you expect? If an opt-in form on your own web site can result in as many as 50% or more "non-confirmations" when you send
out that first email, you can't expect an even better result from single opt-in coreg leads! How many people will stay on the list
and actually read the emails is highly dependent upon their perception of the value of what you offer them. Your best
bet for keeping people on the list is to offer them quality information, and not push them too hard to buy things, especially before
they are familiar with what you provide.
What is the advantage of the co-op you set up?
You are assured that you can acquire a large list of 100,000 email leads at a price that would be out of reach for the single buyer.
Many other vendors resell their lists as many as 20 times, and still charge 10 to 30 cents per name, or more. I tell you right out
front how many times I am going to sell the list, and that coregistration leads are, by definition, shared leads. If you know that
other vendors may be selling their leads more often, and that coreg leads are shared leads to begin with, why pay more than you have
to for them?
What are your payment terms?
I ask that you pay when you order, since I have to turn around and purchase from leads suppliers. These lists are built after you place your order, to ensure they are fresh. If I kept "inventory", you could end up buying a "stale" list. Credit Card
orders are processed on secure servers by an independent processing provider. Once your leads have been delivered, there are no
refunds .
What's your refund policy?
No refunds can be given once your order has been processed and your leads have been delivered to you. I have
to pay for these coregistration leads when I buy them from the wholesale suppliers.
Will you replace "bad" leads"?
I am sorry, no. For the price I am charging, and the quantity you are receiving, you can expect some full email inboxes, mis-typed
addresses, etc. To attempt to compensate for that, I deliver extra leads in your order. In the event you get a bad data file that
is entirely corrupted, I will, of course, provide you with a duplicate replacement. However, I have no control over who fills in
the form requesting information, nor whether they check their email with any regularity. That is part of the risk even when you are
running a subscription form on your own website. By the way, I do "clean" the lists as they are built, by removing the obvious
"bad" addresses such as people who sign up using profanity, etc. I do *not* however, "ping" them before sending them to customers.
Doing so would add several days to the delivery delay, given the volume I deal in.
Do coreg leads have a guarantee?
Since these are single opt-ins, I can not guarantee the accuracy of the information (see discussion of this issue above),
although in the past, this has not been a problem. I will not refund your money once I have delivered your list. You
can cancel your order prior to fulfillment, and get a refund. No guarantee is stated or implied.
Addresses have *not* been "pinged" or otherwise verified - that would raise the price significantly and add substantially to the
delivery delay, given the volume that I deal in.
Can you guarantee I will make money with co-reg leads?
No! Nobody can guarantee that you will make money marketing to any list, or using any marketing method,
for that matter. Your success is highly dependent upon your own actions, and comes from making a valuable offer to a targeted list.
You must first "warm up" your list by offering something of interest to people looking for information about how to make money
online, and not be too quick to try to "sell" them. With 100,000 names on your initial list, even if only a fraction of a percent
eventually buy from you, it ought to generate revenue, provided you have controlled your other costs, but I can't possibly know
whether you will make a profit. On the other hand, keep in mind the value to you of repeat sales, residual income, and "up sells".
What is the long term value of each customer to your business?
What is the expected delivery time for bulk coreg leads?
Usually within 10 days because you are getting a "fresh" list. To be sure you get the best possible response, I do not keep
lists in inventory. The co-ops are usually full within a few days, but I promise 10 or less to be conservative. Please also keep in
mind that I have to wait for a full co-op to form before ordering the leads from the wholesaler, so this affects delivery time, as
well. Sometimes your order may be the last one I need to fill out a co-op, and you get the leads in only a few days, while at other
times yours may be the first order placed in a new co-op, and you will have to wait for it to fill up.
How many opt-in leads can I order?
A minimum of 20,000 is required, unless you are requesting the 40,000 "custom" list option. If you want more than 100,000 co-op
leads, please contact me with your requirements. The maximum you can order from any one co-op is 140,000, but I can often make
special arrangements for large customers and repeat large volume buyers.
How often can I order coreg leads?
As often as you like, though I do need to put together a multi-customer co-op each time if you want the 1 penny per name price.
Can I buy up the whole co-op and not share the leads?
Yes, but the cost is 3 cents per name instead of 1 cent. If the additional cost is worth it to you, I can absolutely do that for
you. Please contact me ahead of time to arrange this.
Can I order less than 100,000 bulk co-reg leads?
Yes, you can get as few as 20,000. Details are posted on my leads order page. If you are
interested in the live co-reg leads or the "we build your list" service, the minimums are much lower.
Is country targeting an option?
At present, my leads are all US only. At one time, I could get UK leads for business opportunity seekers as a custom order, but
"country targeting" at reasonable prices is not presently available.
What if I want a target market other than opportunity seekers?
This is often possible. Please see the custom lists page for more information. If you don't see your
market listed, get in touch with me, and I will check on availability for you. But bear in mind that extremely narrowly targeted
markets like left-handed european mountain climbers, or psychics who live in Louisiana, are not available, since advertising for
them is prohibitively expensive.
In what format do I get the coregistration records?
Your files come in CSV format, which you can import to most autoresponders. If you need another format, you'll have to provide your
own conversion utility. CSV is very common, and easily handled by almost all autoresponders, spreadsheets, and file conversion
utilities. When your order is ready, we email you a unique link to zip files that are approximately 1mb each (20,000 + leads per
file).
How should I contact my new list when I get it?
When contacting single opt-in leads for the first time, and for follow up, I strongly recommend using an online autoresponder
service with the option of uploading your leads. You may also wish to include a message such as this with your email. It subtly
assures them that you are not spamming them, and reminds them that they asked for the information you are sending:
"Dear [firstname] [lastname],
On [timestamp], you, or someone using your contact information, asked for further info on (
your subject, e.g., business opportunities), from internet IP address [ip]. If you feel you received this in error, or
you no longer wish to receive this information, (unsubscribe instructions here)." |
Some people put this right at the top of their first email, while others prefer to place it at the end, or not do it at all.
Customers are provided specific details on my formula for first emails upon order confirmation -- as well as referrals to my
preferred autoresponder solutions. Also don't forget to read the free ebook that I provide you to get you started.
How do I send out 100,000 emails?
I do not recommend that you attempt to send bulk email from your own computer. Your ISP may well object to this and cause problems
for you or shut you down. I would also not recommend that you try to send bulk email from a web site, unless you stay within the
guidelines outlined in your hosting provider's Terms of Service. Many of them restrict the amount of email you can send per day,
although some do not. The same goes for uploading of single opt-in lists. Some allow it, most do not. My own autoresponder service does allow uploading of bulk leads, but requires you to use one of 8 provided confirmation emails,
or allows you to devise your own "custom" confirmation message (subject to approval by the Abuse and Compliance department).Very
large operators might also consider a dedicated server they use strictly for their email marketing and related activities. Read more about contacting your leads here.
To be very blunt, if you don't know at least the basics about how to send email in large volume, and how to
"warm up" a list, then you probably should not be buying and using bulk coregistration leads.
Will I get accused of spamming when contacting coreg leads?
I have no control over that, but do offer suggestions to keep you out of trouble. Also keep in mind that recent surveys show that
well over 50% of respondents think that the "this is spam" button in their email account is an "unsubscribe link". Additionally,
the common definition of spam and the legal definition are quite different. Among other things you do to protect yourself, make sure
that you clearly tell people how to unsubscribe, and that your link actually works.
All names sent to you have asked to receive information, or at least someone using their personal information did so. However,
you are dealing with people, and you may find some in such a large list who don’t remember requesting this kind of information. You
are free to add the lead’s IP address and request time stamp to your email, and many people think that is a good idea.
In addition, NEVER forget to include an unsubscribe link, in EVERY e-mail you send! If you are using an online autoresponder
service, an unsubscribe link is usually added automatically. You also need to include your own physical address, use valid "from"
and "reply-to" email addresses, and respond promptly to unsubscribe requests. If you are trying to sell something, or if you intend
to, you have to identify yours as being commercial email.   Read the Government
Guidelines!
It is YOUR responsibility to be sure you are in compliance with the law! Failure to do so can have severe
legal consequences, and will also result in me refusing to sell to you any further! You will most likely also lose your
autoresponder account, and the leads in it, without refund.
Also, it is very important that you offer information targeted to what people on this list are looking for: information on making
money. They are "opportunity seekers". Offer them something of value, and then encourage your prospects to double opt-in to the
autoresponders and mailing lists on your primary site(s). You'll find additional details in the free ebook that I give you with
every order.
How often may I contact my list?
This is YOUR list. You may contact them as often as you like. However, I do not recommend flooding them with daily emails or
multiple offers. Many people may consider that spamming, and is not only unpopular, but unethical. It may also cause problems and
greatly increase the rate at which people unsubscribe from your list. Treat your new list like a gold mine, because it is.
What can I send to my list?
Again, that's up to you, but if I find out you're sending out anything that is not targeted to "opportunity
seekers", (or to the market targeted in your custom order) and/or that you are not in compliance with CAN-SPAM, or that you are
engaged in "phishing", "pharming", or otherwise trying to scam people, I will refuse to sell to you any further. Your autoresponder
account will also be subject to termination without refund.
Do you guarantee how long people will stay on my new list?
NO! This is your list and it depends very much on what you send to your list. The more interesting your mailings and the more you
build a relationship with the people on your list, the better results you can hope to achieve in the long run. Conversely,
immediately bombarding them with offers, and using a "hard sell" approach will shorten your list considerably!
